What car insurance policies are available through Police Credit Union?

Police Credit Union provides the following types of car insurance:

Comprehensive

Comprehensive car insurance offers the most extensive level of cover, protecting you against accidental loss or damage to your vehicle. Police Credit Union’s Comprehensive policy offers the following inclusions:

  • New for old replacement for vehicles less than 2 years old
  • Accidental death benefit of $25,000 per period of insurance
  • Coverage for child seat or baby capsule up to $500 for any one incident
  • Emergency repairs coverage up to $500 for any one incident
  • Coverage for emergency accommodation and traveling expenses up to $1,000 for any one incident
  • Lock re-keying/re-coding coverage up to $1,000 for any one incident
  • Coverage for personal items up to $1,000 for any one incident
  • Rental car coverage for up to 30 days after theft, with a maximum of $100 per day
  • Temporary cover on your replacement vehicle for up to 14 days
  • Reasonable towing costs covered
  • Coverage for trailer and caravan up to $1,000 or market value, whichever is lesser, for any one claim
  • Transportation costs coverage up to $500 for any one incident
  • Legal liability coverage up to $20 million for any one event or series of events
  • Coverage for legal costs
  • Supplementary bodily injury (liability) coverage up to $20 million for any one event or series of events
Third Party Property Damage

Third party property damage cover is the most basic form of optional car insurance available in Australia. Police Credit Union’s Third Party Property Only Insurance is designed to cover damage caused to other people’s property, rather than to your own vehicle. The policy offers the following inclusions:

  • Legal liability coverage up to $20 million for any one event or series of events
  • Legal costs coverage
  • Supplementary bodily injury (liability) coverage up to $20 million
  • Uninsured motorists extension coverage, up to $5,000

Are there any optional extras available through Police Credit Union?

Yes – Police Credit Union offers the following optional extras on its Comprehensive car insurance plan:

  • Rental car following an accident: up to 30 days, at a maximum of $100 per day
  • Removal of basic excess for windscreen claims: 1 replacement claim and 2 repairs in any period of insurance for windscreen, sunroof or window glass
  • Tools of trade coverage: up to $3,000 for any one incident

The following optional excess is also available for Comprehensive cover to decrease your premium:

  • Unnamed driver excess: $2,500 for any one claim

What are some of the pros and cons of buying car insurance through Police Credit Union?

  • 24/7 claims: you can make a claim online at any time using Allianz’s online claims form.
  • Generous rental car provision: on Comprehensive plans, you can get a rental car for up to 30 days after your car is stolen.
  • Choice of repairer: if your vehicle needs repairing, you can use one of Allianz’s preferred repairers or choose your own.
  • No Fire and Theft cover: Police Credit Union no longer offers TPFT cover as an option on its car insurance plans.
  • Limited child seat cover: cover for baby capsules and child seats on Comprehensive policies is capped at $500.
