Mobile broadband speeds will largely depend on the type of mobile network connection you have. These are:
4G mobile broadband speeds
4G, or fourth-generation mobile networks, are the most widespread and widely available around Australia. These networks can provide theoretical peak download speeds reaching up to 1Gbps in ideal conditions. In practice, however, real-world speeds often range from 12Mbps or less to 100Mbps.
5G mobile broadband speeds
5G is the next leap in mobile technology, promising significantly faster speeds and lower latency. In optimal conditions, 5G can theoretically deliver peak download speeds of up to 20Gbps.
However, this speed isn’t achievable in Australia today. In reality, early 5G deployments have shown that they’re capable of reaching speeds beyond 100Mbps to rival some of the NBN’s higher speed tiers.
This technology is also still in the process of being rolled out, meaning it isn’t available to all Australians, especially those outside major cities.
