What car insurance policies are available through Lumley Special Vehicles?

Lumley Special Vehicles provides the following types of car insurance:

Comprehensive

Comprehensive car insurance offers the most extensive protection of the different types of cover available in Australia, covering you, your passengers, your vehicle and other vehicles or property in case of damage or an accident. Lumley Special Vehicles’ Comprehensive policy offers the following inclusions:

  • Emergency repairs following an accident, up to $750
  • New vehicle replacement following total loss for vehicles less than 12 months old
  • Rental car costs following theft for up to 14 days, for a maximum of $1,400 (private or business use vehicles only)
  • Accidental damage to personal effects, up to $500
  • Emergency accommodation and completion of journey costs if you are more than 200km from home, up to $1,000
  • Theft of keys and re-coding costs, up to $1,500
  • Replacement vehicle cover for 14 days after purchase
  • Theft or damage to a trailer, up to $1,000
  • Off-road cover for four-wheel drives
  • Reasonable towing and storage costs following an insured event
  • First option to purchase the salvage following your vehicle being declared a total loss
  • Legal liability cover up to $30 million
  • All legal costs relating to court proceedings arising from an insured event
  • Substitute vehicle during service or repair
  • Cleaning up costs after an accident
  • Maritime law liability charges
Third Party Liability

The most basic form of optional car insurance, this type of cover is designed to cover damage your car causes to other people’s property, rather than damage to your own vehicle. Lumley Special Vehicles’ policy offers the following inclusions:

  • Up to $30 million legal liability cover
  • All legal costs relating to court proceedings arising from an insured event
  • Substitute vehicle during service or repair
  • Cleaning up costs after an accident
  • Maritime law liability during sea transportation

Are there any optional extras available through Lumley Special Vehicles?

Yes – Lumley Special Vehicles’ Comprehensive car insurance policy offers a number of optional extras:

  • Salvage rights for vehicles aged 25 years or older in the event of a total loss
  • Excess-free windscreen and window glass cover for accidental breakage
  • Rental car costs following an accident, for a maximum of 14 days
  • Coverage for loss or damage of spare parts during restoration or repair
  • Coverage for loss or damage to owned mobile phone or GPS unit due to accidents, fire, storm, theft or in the course of employment
  • Finance loss protection covering 75% of the difference between the sum insured and amount owed in the event of a total loss

The following variations also apply to all levels of cover:

  • Higher standard excess to lower premiums
  • Named drivers only restriction
  • Driver age restriction

What are some of the pros and cons of buying car insurance through Lumley Special Vehicles?

  • Choice of repairer: if your car needs repairing, you can choose your own repairer.
  • Agreed value insurance: you can insure your car for an agreed value, ensuring you get the amount you expect if your car is written off.
  • High legal liability cover: up to $30 million in legal liability against loss or damage to someone else’s property caused by the use of your car.
  • No insurance for under-25s: drivers under 25 are excluded as standard from Lumley Special Vehicles’ car insurance policies.
