Comprehensive Car Insurance

Comprehensive car insurance is the most extensive type of cover. Real Insurance’s Comprehensive plan offers the following inclusions:

  • Coverage against accidental loss or damage from events such as accidents, theft, malicious damage, fire and natural events
  • Legal liability cover up to $20 million
  • New-for-old car replacement within the first 24 months of registration
  • Legal liability cover for an incident using an uninsured substitute car
  • Up to $50 per day for up to 14 days for a hire car after theft
  • Up to $1,000 coverage for accidental loss or damage to a trailer or caravan attached to your car
  • Up to $500 for essential repairs to restore your car to a roadworthy condition
  • Transit cover for loss or damage to your car during transportation
  • Up to $500 for accidental loss, theft, or damage to personal property inside the car
  • Up to $500 for replacement child safety seats and prams damaged or stolen from the car
  • Up to $500 for emergency travel and accommodation if your car cannot be driven and you are more than 200km from home
  • Up to $1,000 for replacing or recoding your car’s locks and keys if they are stolen
  • Reasonable towing costs for moving your damaged car to a safe place or an approved repairer
  • Option to take out Pay As You Drive (PAYD) cover if certain conditions are met
Pay As You Drive Car Insurance

With Real Insurance’s Comprehensive insurance, you may be eligible for Pay As You Drive cover if you drive less than 15,000km a year. This type of cover offers all the benefits of Real Insurance’s Comprehensive plan, but for a discounted premium. This is determined in the following way:

  • The premium is calculated based on the estimated distance you plan to drive during the insurance period
  • Your Certificate of Insurance will display the start and end odometer readings, indicating the maximum mileage recorded for your car during the coverage period
  • You must submit an accurate start odometer reading when you take out the policy
  • An outside odometer excess applies if your car's odometer reading exceeds the end reading or falls below the start reading, if the odometer is faulty or non-functional, or if the odometer has been replaced without updating the policy
  • Provided odometer readings may be verified through inspections and document requests
Third Party Property, Fire & Theft Car Insurance

This type of cover is the next step down from comprehensive car insurance, protecting against damage to your vehicle from theft and fire, and damage to other vehicles and property. Real Insurance’s plan has the following inclusions:

  • Coverage against loss or damage caused by theft, attempted theft or fire (including bushfire), up to a maximum of $10,000 or the market value of your car
  • Legal liability cover up to $20 million
  • Hire car in case of theft, up to $50 per day for a maximum of 14 days
  • Accidental loss or damage to a trailer or caravan attached to your car, up to $1,000
  • Essential repairs to restore your car to a roadworthy condition, up to $500
  • Transit cover to protect against loss or damage to your car during transportation
  • Accidental loss, theft or damage to personal property inside the car, up to $500
  • Replacement child seats and prams damaged or stolen from the car, up to $500
  • Emergency travel and accommodation expenses if your car is undrivable and you are more than 200km from home, up to $500
  • Replacing or recoding your stolen car's locks and keys, up to $1,000
  • Reasonable towing costs for moving your damaged car to a safe location or an approved repairer
  • Up to $3,000 for damage to your car caused by an uninsured driver
  • Legal liability cover for an incident using an uninsured substitute car
Third Party Property Damage Car Insurance

The most basic form of optional car insurance in Australia, this is designed to cover damage caused to other people’s property, rather than to your own vehicle. Real Insurance’s policy offers the following inclusions:

  • Legal liability cover, up to $20 million
  • Uninsured motorist cover, up to $3,000
  • Legal liability cover for an incident using an uninsured substitute car
