Bundling electricity or gas with internet isn’t widespread in Australia, with only a handful of providers offering combined plans. If you’re eligible, a bundle can make your utilities easier to manage and may reduce your internet costs through ongoing or introductory discounts.

However, convenience doesn’t always mean better value. It’s still worth comparing separate energy and internet plans to see which option works out best overall.

Which providers bundle energy and internet?

Most energy retailers in Australia don't offer internet plans at all, and among those that do, few actually combine them into a single discounted bundle.

Providers that currently offer energy and internet bundles include:

Provider Bundle discount States available How it applies
AGL $15/month off internet NSW, VIC, QLD, SA (plus WA for gas only) Ongoing, while both services stay active
Origin Energy $10/month off internet NSW, VIC, SE QLD, SA, ACT Ongoing, while both services stay active
Dodo $5 to $10/month off internet NSW, VIC Ongoing, while both services stay active
$5/month with one energy service; up to $10/month with electricity and gas in NSW and VIC
Kogan $50/year electricity credit NSW, VIC, SE QLD, SA Annual credit, capped at 3 years
Information correct as of August 2026. Availability varies by address, so even if a provider services your state, the bundled option may not be available at your specific property.

Some retailers do sell internet plans alongside energy but don't bundle them into a single discounted deal, such as Red Energy and 1st Energy.

How do I sign up for a bundle?

Because each retailer handles bundling differently, if you're looking for a bundled plan, the first step is to find a provider that offers both the services you want and coverage at your address.

You may need to sign up for one service first (energy or internet) and then add the second to activate the bundle discount, or you might be able to sign up for both at the same time.

The discount will usually apply once both services are active, though you’ll still get a separate bill for each service.

Is bundling energy and internet cheaper?

Not necessarily. While you may get a discount for getting your electricity, gas and internet from the same provider, that doesn’t automatically mean the package will be cheaper than choosing each service separately.

Take this example:

Option Electricity Gas Internet Total per month
Bundle with one provider $160 $80 $75 $315
Separate providers $150 $70 $85 $305
Example only. Actual prices will vary depending on your location, provider, plan and usage.

In this scenario, the bundle includes a cheaper internet plan, but the higher electricity and gas costs mean you’d still pay $10 more each month overall.

Bundling can still be appealing if you prefer the convenience of keeping your services with one provider. However, if saving money is your main priority, it’s worth comparing separate electricity, gas and internet plans with the bundle as a whole.

Also keep in mind that plans, prices and discounts change regularly. Checking the market from time to time can make sure you’re not missing out on a better deal.

Can you get a discount for bundling electricity and gas?

Broadly speaking, no. Having your electricity plan and gas plan with the same retailer won’t unlock cheaper rates simply because you’ve bundled the two.

You could still save money if that retailer happens to offer competitive prices across both services, or has a sign-up offer or reward attached to the plans you choose. However, it’s worth comparing the total cost against taking out electricity and gas plans with different retailers.

Where can I get electricity and gas from the same retailer?

Whether you can keep both services with one retailer depends on where you live and which energy networks are available at your address.

Same-retailer electricity and gas plans are available across parts of NSW, VIC, SA, SE QLD, the ACT and Tasmania. Options are more restricted elsewhere, particularly where households have limited choice of electricity retailer or natural gas isn’t widely available.

Energy Providers You Can Compare With Savvy

Frequently asked questions about electricity, gas and internet bundles

Can I bundle my internet plan with just electricity?

Yes, in most cases, having one active energy service with the provider, either electricity or gas, is enough to access an internet bundle.

The size of the discount can vary, though. Dodo, for example, offers a larger discount when you bundle more services. Kogan’s setup is different again: gas is only available in NSW and VIC and must be taken with electricity, although you can have electricity on its own.

What happens to my bundle discount if I cancel one of the services?

You’ll usually lose any discount linked to having both services with the same provider. The discount may stop straight away or from the end of your current billing period, depending on the provider.

For example, if your internet discount depends on having an active energy plan, cancelling that energy service would mean the internet discount no longer applies.

What happens to my utilities bundle deal if I move house?

You may be able to take your bundle with you, provided the same services are available at your new address. However, it’s important to check with your provider before you move.

If one of the services isn’t available at your new home, you may lose any bundle discount linked to it.

Do bundled electricity and gas plans come with sign-up offers or rewards?

They can. Energy retailers sometimes offer extra incentives such as bill credits, supermarket or frequent flyer points, streaming subscriptions and other rewards. However, these aren’t exclusive to customers who take out both electricity and gas, so you can qualify with just one service.

It’s worth looking past the perk itself, though. A plan offering a generous sign-up bonus or rewards program could have higher rates than another plan, so check what you’ll actually pay before deciding whether the extras make it worthwhile.
